EFCC witness clears ex-Kwara Governor of direct receipt in N5.78bn SUBEB case

An EFCC investigator testified in court that former Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed did not directly receive any portion of the alleged N5.78 billion SUBEB funds under investigation. The testimony came during the trial of Ahmed and his former Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Nurudeen Banu, who are accused of diverting SUBEB funds. The investigator noted that neither Ahmed nor the UBEC were signatories to the Kwara SUBEB account. Additionally, it was revealed that Ahmed had approved a N1 billion loan from the SUBEB counterpart fund, reportedly used for paying workers' wages.
