Double budget: Hofburg receives €12.3 million a year

The Austrian government is preparing a double budget for the years 2027 and 2028 aimed at achieving a deficit target of 3% of GDP. According to an analysis by the parliamentary budget office, the presidential chancellery will receive approximately 12.3 million euros annually, representing a 0.9% increase compared to the previous year due to rising personnel costs. The overall cost of the presidential chancellery accounts for 0.01% of total expenditures in 2027. Meanwhile, the parliament is being asked to reduce spending, with its budget set at 276 million and 278 million euros for the next two years, down from 282.4 million euros in 2026. Savings will come from lower costs related to investigative committees and reduced pensions for MPs. Personnel costs and positions are expected to be cut starting in 2028, though operational expenses are projected to rise.
