The political landscape in Šibenik-Knin County has undergone a significant shift following the decision by the Domovinski Pokret (DP) to withdraw from the ruling coalition with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). This move was officially announced by Boris Solomun, the president of the DP's county council faction, who stated that the party would no longer participate in the coalition due to dissatisfaction with its cooperation with the HDZ. According to Solomun, the coalition had failed to uphold the principles of respect and consultation necessary for effective governance over the past year. He described receiving politically constructed and evasive answers to his questions during meetings of the County Council, which he found unacceptable.

Solomun emphasized that while leaving the coalition does not mean he will immediately align with the Social Democrats (SDSS) or the left opposition, he remains committed to making decisions based on his conscience. He also clarified that the withdrawal from the coalition does not necessarily lead to the collapse of the majority, although it now stands at 15 members out of a total of 31 in the County Council. Despite this, Solomun expressed confidence that the ruling coalition would remain intact, citing two members from the SDSS as potential "wild cards" who could support the HDZ’s proposals when needed.
