PTCuba suffers nationwide blackout
Cuba está enfrentando um apagão elétrico a nível nacional, causado pela diminuição das reservas de combustível e falhas na rede de distribuição. A Electric Union, empresa estatal, informou que a causa está sendo investigada, enquanto o Ministério da Energia e Minas ativa protocolos para restabelecer o fornecimento. O problema começou em janeiro, após as sanções dos Estados Unidos contra a venda de petróleo à ilha. Serviços de transporte público foram suspensos e centenas de milhares de cirurgias foram canceladas nos hospitais. O presidente cubano, Miguel Díaz-Canel, acusou os EUA de tentar incitar conflitos sociais através do bloqueio do fornecimento de combustível. Cuba produz apenas 40% do combustível necessário, e o navio russo que entregou 730 mil barris de petróleo em março esgotou-se até o final de abril. O governo está implementando rationamento de energia, com cortes que podem durar mais de 24 horas.
