Four accused in preventive detention for drug trafficking and criminal association in San Bernardo

The Chilean Prosecutor's Office in San Bernardo announced that four suspects were placed under preventive detention for drug trafficking and organized crime. The operation was conducted in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bicrim) of the Investigations Police. On July 30, 2026, authorities simultaneously entered and searched 21 homes, primarily in San Bernardo, leading to the arrest of five individuals. During the raids, they seized various drugs including ketamine, cocaine, marijuana, and processed cocaine, along with 44 million pesos in cash, luxury items, vehicles, firearms, and ammunition. The suspects were presented before the San Bernardo Guarantee Court, where their detention was approved due to concerns over public safety, with a 200-day investigation period. The head of Bicrim noted the investigation spanned nearly a year, identifying the organization's structure, which was mainly a family clan involved in retail drug sales. The raids uncovered approximately 10 kilograms of drugs, a semi-automatic pistol, 250 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and around 5 million pesos in coins, highlighting the scale of the criminal activity.
