The closure of Line 3 of the Cablebús has caused confusion among passengers, with many unaware of alternative transportation options during the scheduled maintenance period. The service, which runs from Constituyentes to Vasco de Quiroga, was suspended on its first day of shutdown, leading to disruptions for users who were not informed of the temporary changes. Passengers arriving at Los Pinos/Constituyentes station found themselves unable to board the Cablebús due to the suspension. Some had to walk through nearby streets in search of support buses operated by RTP, which provide alternate service during the closure. Two individuals, Omar and Carlos, who arrived by bicycle, described their experience of searching for the RTP pickup points without clear signage. They noted that they did not know the exact location of the stop and relied on asking locals for directions. Several other passengers faced similar challenges. Sofia Castillo, attempting to reach the Cineteca Nacional Chapultepec, spent ten minutes seeking guidance before locating the RTP service on Avenida Constituyentes. She acknowledged the necessity of annual inspections for safety and operational integrity but expressed concern over the lack of information for first-time users or those unfamiliar with the area. A tourist named Danika also encountered difficulties while trying to use Line 3. She admitted she was unaware of the service interruption and had to ask for assistance to continue her journey. These experiences highlight the impact of the closure on both regular commuters and visitors, emphasizing the need for clearer communication during such periods. According to the Capital Mobility Secretary, Line 3 will remain closed until July 26, 2026, as part of its annual inspection. During this time, free service will be provided by RTP units to cover the route. The maintenance includes preventive work on the electromechanical systems, cabins, and towers, along with specialized inspections of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components. Additionally, seven balancing devices along the line will undergo rehabilitation. Following the completion of Line 3’s review, Lines 2 and 1 of the Cablebús will also face maintenance periods. Line 2, running from Constitution of 1917 to Santa Marta, will be under inspection from July 27 to August 9, while Line 1, operating from Indios Verdes to Cuautepec, will be reviewed from August 10 to 23. These planned closures underscore the ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability and safety of the city's aerial transport system. The situation reflects broader patterns of infrastructure management, where periodic maintenance is essential despite the inconvenience it may cause to daily commuters.
