Carboneras agrees to cancel the license of El Algarrobico after the ultimatum of the judges and 23 years after granting it

The town council of Carboneras, Spain, has decided to declare null the construction license granted to the El Algarrobico project, following a court order from the Andalusian High Court. The decision was made during an extraordinary meeting where eight out of thirteen councillors voted in favor, while five were absent. This follows a previous vote in June where the council postponed the decision. Two Socialist Party councillors defected from their party leader’s position to support the court ruling, aligning with conservative members and the mayor. The mayor emphasized the need for regional and national authorities' assistance, calling the situation an 'embriagery' caused by unrealistic development expectations.
