The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in the Philippines has released 1,156 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) over the past month as part of efforts to reduce prison overcrowding. These releases included individuals whose sentences had expired, those acquitted, parolees, and others released through legal processes such as habeas corpus. The majority of the released PDLs came from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, followed by other major prisons across the country. Among those released were 79 Muslim PDLs, highlighting BuCor's commitment to equitable treatment of minority groups within the penal system. Since June 30, 2022, a total of 33,919 PDLs have been released under the current Marcos administration.

Bias read (Center): The article presents factual data on prisoner releases without overtly favoring any political side. It mentions the involvement of government officials and the Marcos administration but does not include biased language, one-sided sourcing, or omissions that would indicate a clear ideological lean.
