Bridge over the Thames near the Sultartanga power station closed for repairs
A bridge over Þjórsá river at Sultartangi was closed due to damage after a truck overturned into the river during the evening. The incident occurred at around 8 PM, causing part of the bridge to collapse. Rescue teams from Landhelgisgæsla (Police Rescue Service) assisted in recovering the vehicle. The closure affects traffic routes between Landmannalaugar, Sprengisand, and Veiðivötn, requiring drivers to take alternative roads. Grétar Einarsson, manager at the Selfossi service station, stated the bridge would remain closed until repairs are completed.
