Employment in the trades and professions increased by four percent

In June, the number of employees in crafts and self-employed professions in Croatia increased by four percent, according to data from the State Institute of Statistics (DZS). The total number of workers in these sectors reached 237,393, representing an increase of 9,084 individuals compared to the previous month. This growth was recorded across multiple areas of activity, with some regions experiencing more pronounced increases than others. The rise in employment was observed in 16 fields of activity, ranging from a modest 0.4 percent increase in professional, scientific, and technical activities to a notable 16.1 percent rise in accommodation and food service activities. Conversely, declines were noted in four other fields, with the smallest decrease occurring in construction and health protection and social care services at 0.3 percent, while the largest drop was recorded in mining and quarrying at 3.2 percent. When comparing the changes across counties, 18 counties saw an increase in the number of employed individuals. The highest growth was recorded in the Šibenik-Knin County, where the figure rose by 11 percent. In contrast, two counties reported a decline in employment numbers. The Varaždin County experienced a slight decrease of 0.3 percent, and the Sisak-Moslavina County saw a 0.4 percent reduction. Meanwhile, the Krapina-Zagorje County maintained the same level of employment as in May. The increase in employment in crafts and self-employed professions reflects broader economic trends in Croatia.
