Nearly 3 tons of undocumented animal products seized from "Captain Andreevo"

Nearly three tons of animal products without proper documentation were seized by inspectors from the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety (BABH) at the 'Captain Andreev' border checkpoint. The inspection was conducted jointly with customs agency staff. During checks on buses registered in Turkey entering the country, inspectors found 1582 kg of sheep fat and 605 kg of meat products without origin documents. Additional inspections uncovered another 300 kg and 330 kg of sheep fat without required accompanying documents. The goods were confiscated and are set to be destroyed. BABH emphasized that border controls protect consumers by preventing non-compliant and potentially dangerous foods and feeds from entering the European Union.
