Bharath urges public to utilise free medical camp in Kurnool

Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta has called upon the public to take advantage of a monthly free medical camp held at Gauri Gopal Hospital in Kurnool. Organised as part of a health initiative, the camp takes place on the 16th of each month and serves as a tribute to the late T.G. Venkatesh, a former Rajya Sabha member and the minister’s father. On the occasion of this month's event, which took place on Sunday, over 127 individuals participated in the screening process, receiving a range of diagnostic services at no cost. The medical camp, hosted at Gauri Gopal Hospital, provided essential health screenings including blood tests, random blood sugar (RBS) checks, electrocardiograms (ECG), two-dimensional echocardiography (2D Echo), treadmill tests (TMT), ultrasound scans of the kidney, ureter, and bladder (KUB), chest X-rays, and consultations with specialists such as paediatricians, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, and dentists. The total value of services rendered during the session amounted to nearly ₹6,000, highlighting the government’s commitment to accessible healthcare for local residents. Among the participants, six individuals were identified with potential heart-related conditions, while nine others exhibited signs of eye-related ailments. These findings underscore the importance of regular health check-ups and early detection of chronic diseases. The minister expressed hope that such initiatives would encourage more people to prioritise their well-being through routine medical assessments. This particular medical camp was one of several planned under the minister’s broader efforts to improve public health infrastructure in rural areas. The event aligns with ongoing discussions within the state government regarding the expansion of preventive healthcare measures and the reduction of financial barriers to medical care. By offering free services, the campaign seeks to address disparities in access to quality healthcare among lower-income populations. The hospital staff reported a positive turnout, indicating growing trust in the community towards these outreach programs. Participants praised the availability of expert consultations and the comprehensive nature of the services provided. However, some noted that logistical challenges, such as limited seating and long waiting times, occasionally affected the efficiency of the clinic. Looking ahead, the minister has indicated plans to increase the frequency of such camps and expand the scope of services offered. He has also proposed integrating digital health records into future initiatives to better track patient histories and tailor interventions based on individual health profiles. These steps aim to create a more sustainable model for delivering affordable healthcare solutions to underserved communities. As the next scheduled medical camp approaches, officials are preparing additional resources to accommodate the anticipated demand.
