This measure aims to enhance visibility and communication during critical moments in neonatal emergencies. Another recommendation focused on reviewing the intake forms used for neonatal retrieval services in Queensland. The coroner suggested examining the requirements outlined in similar forms used in New South Wales to determine if modifications could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of such services in Queensland. The findings highlight the complexities involved in diagnosing and managing rare congenital conditions. While the medical teams involved in Thea’s care were commended for their efforts, the coroner acknowledged the broader challenges within the healthcare system regarding early detection of such conditions.
