Reina Reech, a 68-year-old Argentine actress and television host, recently completed a long-awaited trip to Portugal, which included an emotional reunion with her youngest son, Bautista, who has been living in Lisbon since last year with his wife, Delfina Villagra. The journey was carefully planned and marked by both personal connections and historical exploration, according to reports. The trip took Reech through several key locations in Portugal, including medieval towns, historic castles, and mystical sites tied to the Knights Templar. She described the experience as deeply moving, combining family time with moments of spiritual reflection and research for her upcoming novel. During interviews with ¡Hola! Argentina, she emphasized how the trip left a lasting impression, particularly due to its blend of familial warmth and historical significance. Reech’s itinerary began in Lisbon, where Bautista and Delfina reside. From there, she explored areas such as the Algarve region, known for its stunning beaches, and Cascais, a coastal town with rich maritime history. She also visited Tomar, a city steeped in Templar heritage, where she toured the Church of Santa Maria do Olival and the Convent of Christ. This latter site, built in 1160 by the Knights Templar, features an octagonal church similar to the one in Jerusalem's Holy Sepulchre. Another highlight was the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, home to the Initiation Well, a symbolic place representing death and rebirth. At the Convent of Christ, Reech visited the Oratory of the Templars, also known as the Rotunda, which includes a spiral staircase descending 27 meters through nine levels connected to secret tunnels. These levels symbolize the circles of hell, purgatory, and paradise from Dante’s Divine Comedy. Reech described the experience as powerful, allowing for deep introspection and transformation through conscious breathing techniques. During her stay in Lisbon, Reech shared daily life with her son, daughter-in-law, and their black dog named Tinto. She participated in local activities, including meals and visits to markets, highlighting the joy and contentment she observed in her family. Despite being in Portugal primarily for research and family reasons, she did not seek romantic encounters during the trip. Reech is currently working on a novel centered around sacred women whose stories have been misunderstood or misrepresented throughout history. Her travels, including trips to Egypt and southern France, have informed this project, with a planned release date set for 2027. The Portuguese journey added new layers to her understanding of the Templar legacy and its symbolic meanings. Her experiences in Portugal, especially at sites like the Convent of Christ and Quinta da Regaleira, reinforced her belief in the power of historical and spiritual exploration. As she prepares for future travels, she expressed intent to return to Portugal next year to explore additional sites she could not visit this time.
