AirAsia launches first codeshare with Turkey's Pegasus Airlines

Malaysia's AirAsia has launched its first codeshare partnership with Turkey's Pegasus Airlines, connecting Southeast Asia to Europe through Istanbul. The agreement begins on September 2 and includes initial routes to London, Moscow, Athens, Ankara, and Zurich, with plans to expand to over 100 routes between Asia and Europe. AirAsia's Chief Commercial Officer, Amanda Woo, highlighted that this partnership offers a different approach compared to their planned hub in Bahrain, which was delayed due to geopolitical tensions. The airline will increase daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul to support the new partnership, while maintaining its timeline for launching services from Bahrain in March 2027.
