Those who have not done so yet can complete the process through multiple avenues. Options include undergoing the authentication during LPG delivery via the oil marketing company's mobile application, visiting an LPG distributor's showroom, or using the respective OMC's mobile applications from home. Consumers who choose not to complete the biometric Aadhaar authentication can still obtain LPG, albeit at the market rate without subsidy. These consumers would receive either 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders based on availability, and they must register their preference through digital platforms offered by their OMCs. The introduction of biometric Aadhaar authentication aims to ensure that subsidized LPG reaches eligible consumers and prevents misuse of subsidies. The government emphasized that the initiative does not intend to restrict access to LPG for legitimate households and provides multiple methods for completing the authentication. Currently, domestic LPG is sold below its actual cost, with an implicit subsidy of around Rs 210 per 14.2 kg cylinder in September 2026. The government has also compensated public sector oil marketing companies to maintain affordability.
