According to FIFA, the Belgians are not involved in the case of the American footballer who played against them.

The International Football Association (FIFA) has rejected Belgium's appeal regarding American footballer Folarin Balogun, who was suspended for one year after receiving a red card in a previous match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to FIFA, Belgium is not a party to the case and therefore has no right to appeal the decision. The suspension was unusually extended to one year, despite standard rules requiring a single-match ban. It emerged that U.S. President Donald Trump contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and the White House lobbied for Balogun’s release, which ultimately succeeded. However, FIFA emphasized that its disciplinary committee acted independently and without external influence. Belgium requested a copy of the decision and its justification but did not receive them, and FIFA classified their inquiry as an appeal, which did not meet formal requirements. Belgium still has the option to seek further legal recourse through the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
