A study conducted by the Departments of Botany and Microbiology at Acharya Nagarjuna University found that 29 out of 73 trees along a road-widening project in Guntur, India, can be safely transplanted, while the remaining 44 trees are too damaged to be relocated. The research was commissioned to assess the feasibility of preserving mature avenue trees affected by the Guntur Municipal Corporation's infrastructure work. According to the findings, the 44 trees slated for removal suffer from severe damage caused by termite and wood-boring insect infestations, posing a risk during extreme weather conditions. The 29 healthy trees identified for relocation have strong root systems and good biological viability. The Municipal Commissioner stated that the corporation plans to follow the university's guidelines, removing hazardous trees and relocating the healthy ones to appropriate locations within the city.
