211,217 fake websites and 549 fake accounts: Chinese network discovers itself preparing to hit Taiwan elections (and beyond)

Researchers at Doublethink Lab have uncovered a Chinese content factory called Borderless Group, which operates over 1,217 fake websites and 549 fake accounts on Threads. These accounts, created between July 2023 and February 2026, generated more than 467,547 posts and replies, most of which were non-political, viral content or gossip copied from legitimate news outlets. The group appears to be building infrastructure to spread propaganda, potentially targeting the November 2026 Taiwanese elections. While the majority of the content is not explicitly political, the scale and organization suggest it could be used for influence operations when needed.
