Ownership
Luxemburger Wort (online: wort.lu) is published by Mediahuis Luxembourg S.A., the former Groupe Saint-Paul Luxembourg. For most of its history the paper and its publishing house were owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Luxembourg through Saint-Paul Luxembourg S.A. In 2020 the Belgian-Dutch private media group Mediahuis acquired Saint-Paul Luxembourg, and in 2021 the company was renamed Mediahuis Luxembourg, ending the Church's ownership. Mediahuis is a large privately held Belgian newspaper group.
Funding
Financed commercially through newspaper sales, digital subscriptions/paywall and advertising as part of the Mediahuis group; it no longer relies on Church subsidy.
Affiliation & stance
Historically the Catholic, centre-right paper of record in Luxembourg, it carried a Christian-democratic editorial leaning but is now under a purely commercial private owner. Because it is privately and commercially owned by Mediahuis with no party or state control, it is best classified INDEPENDENT (centre-right), having shed its former Church-dependent status.
