Ownership

RTK (Radio Television of Kosovo) is Kosovo's public service broadcaster and the operator of the rtklive.com website. It began broadcasting on 19 September 1999 after the Kosovo War, created at the request of the OSCE with the support of the European Broadcasting Union, taking over the former RTS facilities in Pristina. It is a publicly owned broadcaster overseen by a board and accountable to the Assembly of Kosovo.

Funding

Originally funded by a licence fee collected via electricity bills (2003-2009); after the Constitutional Court ended that mechanism, RTK has since 2010 been financed directly from the state budget (a share fixed at around 0.7% of the budget), supplemented by advertising.

Affiliation & stance

Because RTK is a state-owned public broadcaster financed from the public budget, it is classified STATE. Its dependence on parliamentary budget allocations has repeatedly raised concerns about political pressure and editorial independence, but it is a public-service institution rather than a privately or party-owned outlet.

Spain can't win the World Cup just because of Lamine Yamal.

Former Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta believes Spain has the potential to win the 2026 World Cup but warns that success cannot rely solely on the exceptional talent of Lamine Yamal. Following their victory at the European Championship 2024, Spain aims to reclaim footballing supremacy. The team, managed by Luis de la Fuente, has made a strong impression in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with Yamal emerging as one of the standout names. At just 18 years old, Yamal scored his first goal in a World Cup match during Spain’s 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the group stage, showcasing his extraordinary talent despite recovering from an injury that kept him out of Barcelona’s final games of the season. However, Azpilicueta emphasizes that Spain needs contributions from the entire squad if they hope to become world champions. He notes that while Yamal is often highlighted as the key figure, a World Cup victory requires a fully prepared and complete team. Azpilicueta recalls that during Euro 2024, De la Fuente utilized all players across seven matches, highlighting that every player will play a crucial role this time as well. Spain will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against A

Më shumë se një verdikt për katër ish-krerët e UÇK-së

The article discusses the upcoming judicial ruling by the Special Courts in The Hague regarding four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK): Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi. These individuals are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during and immediately after the Kosovo War in 1998–1999. The court initially had until May 19 to issue a verdict but extended the deadline to August 2026 due to the complexity of the case. The Special Courts indicated that further delays might occur if deemed necessary. All four defendants have been in custody since November 2020, facing charges of being part of a 'criminal enterprise' aimed at gaining control through intimidation, mistreatment, and expulsion. Victims included Serbs, Roma, and Albanians who did not support the UÇK. Prosecutors requested 45 years of imprisonment for each defendant based on their leadership roles. Thaçi has rejected the accusations, calling them entirely false and absurd, and criticized the prosecutors for attempting to discredit high-ranking officials from NATO, the United States, Britain, and the OSCE who were present during the conflict.

”Cristiano Ronaldo do të pensionohet nga Portugalia këtë verë”

The article discusses the possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo will retire from international football this summer, based on information provided by his sister, Katia Aveiro. She claims that the World Cup will be Ronaldo's final tournament, potentially ending his career with the Portuguese national team. Aveiro stated that she has received information from a reliable source indicating this will be his last match, and she expressed strong belief that this is indeed the case. She emphasized Ronaldo's dominance over more than two decades and praised his contributions to Portuguese football. While Ronaldo had previously confirmed that this World Cup might be his last, he has not yet commented on retiring from the national team. If this World Cup marks the end of his international career, it would solidify his legacy as one of the greatest players in history, with records including most goals and appearances for Portugal. The potential final match could be against Croatia in Toronto.

Ukraine reports two dead after night attacks by Russia, with the death toll in Kiev rising to 30.

At least two people were killed and eight injured in Russian air strikes on the Sumy region and Kryvyj Rih in Ukraine during the night of Thursday to Friday, according to Ukrainian authorities. This follows a large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv earlier in the week which killed at least 30 people and injured around 100 others. In response to the attacks, Ukraine conducted missile strikes on Belgorod in Russia, causing a fire at an energy facility and killing one woman, according to Russian media. The overnight strike on the city of Romny in the Sumy region hit a residential building, killing two women and injuring a man, reported regional administrator Oleh Hryhorov via Telegram. Another seven people were injured in a missile strike on Kryvyj Rih, according to military city administrator Oleksandr Vilkul. In Kyiv, teams discovered three more dead bodies during the night, bringing the total number of victims to 30, according to Reuters citing Ukrainian health authorities. In the tropical Pacific, El Niño conditions have set in, researchers say.

The article reports that researchers from New Zealand’s Earth Sciences organization (ESNZ) have identified conditions consistent with the El Niño climate phenomenon in the tropical Pacific. They warn that impacts on New Zealand’s weather are likely to intensify over the coming months. The ESNZ joined other organizations in Australia, Japan, and the U.S. in confirming the development of El Niño, which is expected to reach strong intensity between July and September. The effects are projected to peak during the Southern Hemisphere summer, spanning late 2023 into early 2024. According to lead researcher Chris Brandolini, this El Niño event is at least comparable in strength to five of the strongest recorded El Niños in modern history. The article outlines regional rainfall expectations, noting potential below-average precipitation in some areas and above-normal levels in others. It also mentions possible temperature fluctuations and increased wind variability later in the year. Additionally, it notes two lower-probability risks: sudden stratospheric warming and the occurrence of a tropical cyclone outside the typical season, both historically linked to El Niño. Putin recognizes the oil map for the first time

Putin recognizes the oil map for the first time

Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged for the first time that Russia is building 'some oil reserves' during a meeting focused on energy issues. He emphasized the need to strengthen domestic oil production and increase output. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continued their attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, detonating an oil purification plant in the southern Krasnodar region, which produces around four million tons of crude oil annually. The Krasnodar region is one of Russia's largest oil-producing areas located near the Black Sea. On Tuesday, Ukrainian forces launched large-scale air strikes on Sevastopol, the largest city on Crimea, including attacks on oil facilities. In response, Russia, which annexed Crimea in 2014, has restricted fuel sales to the public to counteract the energy shortages. According to reports, these attacks have had no impact on the front line. During an interview with a Russian state television station, Putin described the Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure as an attempt to destabilize Russian society. He stated that Ukraine's goal was to halt the deployment of Russian military units to improve their position in arms control talks.

Lebanon-Israel deal could block war crimes accountability, experts warn

A framework agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel has sparked concerns that a specific clause could hinder accountability for alleged Israeli war crimes. Article 13 of the 14-point trilateral framework, signed on 26 June, requires both countries to 'take good faith measures that demonstrate positive intent,' including ceasing hostile actions in international political or legal forums. This provision has alarmed Lebanese human rights and legal experts, who argue it undermines the right of Lebanese citizens to seek reparations and justice for alleged Israeli violations. Experts like Halima Kaakour, a Lebanese MP and human rights advocate, claim the clause represents a political trade-off where Lebanon relinquishes its right to pursue justice in international forums in exchange for Israeli withdrawal. Since October 2023, Israel has faced accusations of war crimes in Lebanon, including civilian targeting and mass displacement, resulting in at least 8,000 deaths. Critics argue the agreement violates Lebanon's constitution, which prioritizes international law over domestic agreements.

Google loses the legal battle against the €4.1 billion EU fine

In a significant legal ruling, Google has lost its long-standing case against a €4.1 billion fine imposed by the European Union for antitrust violations related to its Android operating system. The Court of Justice of the European Union rejected Google's appeal, upholding the decision that the company abused its dominant position in the smartphone market through Android. The European Commission initially fined Google €4.34 billion in 2018 for requiring manufacturers to pre-install Google Search, Chrome, and the Google Play Store, limiting the use of competing systems. In 2022, the General Court of the EU reduced the fine to €4.1 billion, which has now been finalized. Google responded by stating the ruling does not consider its investments in keeping Android open, interoperable, and free. The company claims it has adjusted its agreements to comply with European authorities and will continue focusing on innovation. Over the past decade, Google has faced nearly €11 billion in fines from the EU for various antitrust violations. Recently, Google was ordered to pay around $1.5 billion in damages to PriceRunner by a Swedish court. The company is expected to face further investigations and

Seven reasons I fear for England against Mexico

The article analyzes England's potential challenges against Mexico in the World Cup, focusing on tactical and personnel issues within the team. It highlights concerns over defensive vulnerabilities, particularly on the right flank, where players like Noni Madueke and Djed Spence struggle with consistency and injuries. The piece critiques the selection of right-backs and the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, suggesting these choices contribute to England's fragility. It also addresses Jordan Pickford's inconsistent performances and the impact of Mexico's forwards, including Raul Jimenez, who have scored against Pickford. The article further discusses the instability in central defense, noting Nico O’Reilly's struggles and the lack of a clear strategy to counter opponents' tactical shifts, such as those used by DR Congo. Finally, it questions the decision to keep Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson together in midfield, arguing that Kobbie Mainoo might offer better value.

U.S. and Iran agree to cease attacks and return to talks

The United States and Iran have reached an agreement to temporarily halt attacks in the Persian Gulf and resume negotiations over the dispute regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The deal was confirmed by an American official, raising hopes for a temporary ceasefire. According to the official, technical discussions will continue on all points of the 14-point understanding agreement reached on June 17, which outlines the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for free shipping and the continuation of diplomatic dialogue. American media report that the next round of negotiations is expected to take place on Monday in Qatar, according to Reuters. The latest escalation began after an Iranian missile struck a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. Following the incident, Washington and Tehran accused each other of violating the temporary ceasefire agreed upon on June 17. On Sunday morning, Iran launched missiles and drones against US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain shortly after President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face severe consequences if it did not respect the agreement to stop hostilities. The US military announced new strikes against Iranian targets several hours后
