FPA criticizes the 2026/27 Harvest Plan and says that the government has reduced credit for agricultural spending

The Frente Parlamentar da Agropecuária (FPA), led by federal deputy Pedro Lupion, criticized the 2026/2027 Safra Plan announced by the Brazilian federal government. The FPA claims that despite the government presenting the plan as the largest in history, there has been a real reduction in funding for the agricultural sector, leaving producers more vulnerable amid credit restrictions and rising debt. The FPA points out a decrease of R$29.6 billion (5.73%) in total resources compared to the previous cycle, excluding funds they argue were incorrectly included. They highlight a 7.2% drop in credit for production costs and commercialization, which fell from R$414.7 billion to R$384.9 billion. While investment credits increased by 38% to R$140.2 billion, the FPA attributes this to the inclusion of non-traditional rural credit funds. The FPA also criticizes cuts to strategic programs like Moderfrota (-54%) and PCA (-28%), as well as a 14.7% reduction in subsidized credit (equalized resources) and lower coverage under the Rural Insurance Program. The FPA further accuses President Lula da Silva of showing political favoritism by attending only the launch for family farming while ignoring a

Lula government spends more than R$ 20 million on Meta ads in three months

The Brazilian government under President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) spent R$22.2 million on social media advertisements between April 1st and June 29th, according to data published by Meta (owner of Facebook and Instagram). This averages approximately R$246,000 per day, with the PT party spending R$2.7 million during the same period. The spending has increased significantly in recent weeks, reaching R$4.5 million in the last seven days alone. Major campaigns included those related to changes in the income tax and a campaign against femicide titled 'Governo do Brasil por Elas.' The government has not yet responded to questions regarding the criteria for these investments, the reasons behind the increase in spending, or the total budget allocated for institutional advertising this year.

Líder da oposição minimiza crise no PL entre Flávio e Michelle

The leader of the opposition in the Chamber of Deputies, Congressman Cabo Gilberto (PL-PB), downplayed the crisis involving members of the Bolsonaro family, stating he believes their disagreements will be resolved before the party conventions. In an interview with CNN Brazil, he expressed confidence that former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro will run for a Senate seat in the Federal District alongside Deputy Bia Kicis (PL-DF). He acknowledged that the public exposure of tensions between Michelle and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) was negative but claimed the situation has been addressed. Internal polling suggests the incident did not significantly harm the political group. Cabo Gilberto reiterated his support for Flávio Bolsonaro as the preferred candidate for the presidential succession, as indicated by former President Jair Bolsonaro. He attributed challenges faced by the group to decisions made by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), citing international court rulings involving allies of the former president as evidence of potential irregularities.

Bolsonaro's defense says there was no felony weapon seizure

The defense of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has requested Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes not to classify the recent seizure of a pistol under his name as a 'serious offense.' The weapon was found during a traffic stop in Brasília inside an official presidential vehicle driven by Army corporal Estácio Leite da Silva Filho. During the stop, the military personnel admitted the gun belonged to Bolsonaro. Following this, Moraes asked the Office of the Attorney General to assess within 48 hours whether the firearm's seizure could affect Bolsonaro’s house arrest, which was set to expire on Friday, June 26. Bolsonaro's lawyers argue the gun was taken from his home for repairs and that the soldier properly informed authorities of its ownership. They claim there was no concealment, tampering, or actions aimed at evading state oversight. Additionally, they assert Bolsonaro was not notified of any potential revocation of the gun's registration or administrative proceedings related to it. They further argue there is no concrete evidence indicating intent or negligence on Bolsonaro's part to violate court orders or penal rules. Finally, they request the STF to dismiss a

Lula attacks electoral law that prohibits the inauguration of works: desgradisgraced parrot

Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva criticized electoral laws that restrict the participation of authorities in the inauguration of public works close to the start of the election cycle. During an event in Rio Grande do Norte, where he delivered part of a water transfer project, Lula called the restrictions a 'disgraceful nonsense' and stated that he would no longer be able to officially inaugurate projects after July 4 due to the upcoming elections. He emphasized that while he could still visit projects, he would not be allowed to make official speeches or announcements. The rules, which take effect three months before the first round of elections, aim to prevent the misuse of public administration to favor candidates and ensure fairness during the campaign. These regulations prohibit the use of names, symbols, or images associated with authorities in institutional publicity and limit official communication to strictly informative or educational content.

Michelle Bolsonaro: What is the former first lady's political future?

The article discusses the political future of Michelle Bolsonaro, the former first lady of Brazil, following her public criticism of her husband's pre-candidate Flávio Bolsonaro in a video. During a segment called 'Última Análise,' guests analyzed the fallout, noting that Michelle's actions could harm her political ambitions within the Bolsonaro base. A survey by Atlas/Bloomberg showed that 65% of Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters disapprove of Michelle exposing their family conflict publicly, while 51% of viewers agreed with her decision to reveal the disagreement. Experts like writer Francisco Escorsim and professor Daniel Vargas commented on how this incident damaged Michelle's image as a 'family protector.' The article also covers related issues involving Alexandre de Moraes and the Bank Master scandal, including new evidence from the Federal Police showing communication between Viviane de Moraes and Vorcaro regarding a million-dollar contract. It further mentions Vorcaro's alleged attempts to silence journalists through financial incentives and personal investigations.

PF investigates irregularities in amendments of parliamentarians of the center in 4 states

The Brazilian Federal Police launched Operation 'Acesso Negado' to investigate alleged irregularities in the allocation of special transfer funds, known as 'emendas PIX,' from lawmakers affiliated with the centrist coalition across four states—Roraima, Bahia, São Paulo, and Tocantins. The operation focuses on two cities in Roraima, Iracema and São Luiz do Anauá, where these funds were allegedly misused. These funds allow direct transfers from the federal government to municipalities without traditional agreements but are criticized for low transparency. Among those targeted are former mayor James Batista of São Luiz do Anauá, who was suspended in 2023 for vote-buying, and public agents suspected of involvement in questionable contracts. The investigation follows audits by the Federal Controller General (CGU) triggered by a request from the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji), which questioned the legality of this funding model. The CGU report indicates that some projects funded by these grants are stalled, and purchases made with such funds were not registered on the National Public Procurement Portal, violating legal requirements.

Disapproval of Lula reaches 48% with concern for public safety

The article reports that disapproval of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has reached 48%, according to a new survey by Nexus conducted between June 26 and 28. The main reason cited for this disapproval is concern over public safety, particularly rising crime rates such as mobile phone thefts and drug trafficking. While approval remains at 48%, there is significant variation in public perception of his third term, with 42% rating it as poor or very poor, compared to 38% who rate it as good or excellent. The survey highlights that security issues have become more prominent in public concerns since the beginning of Lula’s third term, surpassing economic concerns. The government has responded by launching initiatives like 'Celular Seguro' and 'Brasil Contra o Crime Organizado', aiming to improve public safety through technological tools and increased investment.

Who are the targets of US sanctions for links to the CCP and INSS fraud?

The article discusses U.S. sanctions against Brazilian companies and individuals suspected of ties to the Chinese criminal organization PCC (Primeiro Comando Capixaba) and fraudulent activities related to Brazil's social security system (INSS). The report references a Senate committee investigation (CPMI do INSS) that identified these firms as part of a network involved in money laundering. Specifically, Victory Trading, which received over R$514 million from Wave Intermediações—a company linked to the 'Arpar' network—was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department. The U.S. claims this network operated between São Paulo and Florida, with Victor Shimada allegedly acting as a bridge between the PCC and international drug traffickers. Sanctions include financial isolation and asset freezes in the U.S., marking the first such action against the PCC since it was classified as a terrorist organization. Other entities, including Pixwave Soluções de Pagamentos, Wave Construções Inteligentes, and Portuguese company Avenides Flutuantes Unipessoal, were also targeted. These companies appear in other Brazilian investigations, including those involving the Corinthians football club and testimon

Lula reage à tentativa de Flávio de adiar tarifaço e volta a chamar Bolsonaros de “traidores da pátria”

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva responded to efforts by Flávio Bolsonaro, son of President Jair Bolsonaro, to urge the United States to delay new tariffs against Brazil. Lula accused Flávio of being subservient to the US and called him a 'traitor to the homeland,' attributing the imposition of tariffs to the Bolsonaro family. Flávio had requested the US administration under Donald Trump to defer the application of 25% import tariffs on Brazilian goods for 180 days, arguing that such measures could strengthen Lula politically ahead of presidential elections. Lula rejected this initiative, calling it 'sellout' behavior and asserting that Brazil negotiates on equal terms with any country. The article notes that the tariffs are based on Section 301 investigations into alleged harm to US interests due to Brazilian trade practices. Flávio’s document claims previous tariffs did not achieve desired outcomes and were used by the Brazilian government as a rhetorical defense of national sovereignty. It also cites opinion polls showing that Lula's electoral position has strengthened during periods of heightened US tariff pressure. Lindbergh Farias, a PT deputy leader in the Chamber of Depe

Flávio Bolsonaro, Paulo Figueiredo and 75 others: who will speak at the US hearing on tariffs

The article reports on upcoming U.S. trade hearings where Brazilian stakeholders will discuss potential tariffs imposed by the U.S. Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer. The USTR accused Brazil of unfair commercial practices, including preference for the Pix payment system, 'unfair and preferential' tariffs, and failures in anti-corruption measures, intellectual property protection, and illegal deforestation control. These hearings, held in Washington, D.C., are part of the process before President Trump decides whether to impose a 25% tariff on Brazilian imports. Roberto Azêvedo, a former WTO director, was hired by private sector representatives to participate in negotiations and speak at the hearings. The article lists participants from various Brazilian and American organizations representing different sectors such as agriculture, coffee, and textiles.

PF agent produced evidence against Moraes and Toffoli that leaked to the press, says investigation

The Polícia Federal (PF) has reported that forensic expert João Cláudio Nabas, working under the Operation Compliance Zero, accessed data from the seized phone of imprisoned banker Daniel Vorcaro and created documents containing references to Supreme Court ministers Alexandre de Moraes and Dias Toffoli. The investigation, initiated by Justice Minister André Mendonça, suggests Nabas compiled two files—'Moraes.pdf' and 'Toffoli e esposa.pdf'—which included mentions of these judges and even excerpts from a contract involving Moraes’ wife. The PF claims Nabas suggested colleagues leak the information to the press, leading to his suspension and a search warrant issued during the 7th phase of Operation Compliance Zero. The inquiry does not target journalists or protected sources but focuses solely on potential misconduct by public servants.
