Why supporting SMEs is more than just business support
The article discusses the importance of supporting small and medium-sized businesses (IMM-urile) in Romania, highlighting their role in daily life and economic development. It emphasizes how these businesses contribute to communities by creating jobs and providing essential services. The piece highlights the challenges faced by entrepreneurs due to changing economic conditions, including tax reforms, economic pressures, and geopolitical factors. In response, Banca Transilvania has launched a new campaign titled 'Ce ne-am face unii fără alții?' (What would we do without each other?), continuing its support for local businesses. The initiative is supported by Ömer Tetik, CEO of Banca Transilvania, who underscores the symbolic value of sustained support for Romanian entrepreneurs during uncertain times. The campaign encourages consumers to choose locally owned businesses, as such choices have a broader impact on the economy by supporting employees, suppliers, and other interconnected companies.

Chancellor Merz announces tax cuts, pension reform and new rules for sick leave
The governing coalition in Germany has announced a comprehensive package of reforms aimed at revitalizing the economy, which is currently stagnant and has led to the rise of the far-right AfD party. The coalition, formed by CDU, CSU, and SPD, has agreed on 34 measures including tax cuts for low- and middle-income families, pension system reforms, and stricter rules for sick leave. Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized reducing bureaucracy and easing the burden on businesses and workers through tax reductions. The pension reform would gradually increase the retirement age, aligning it with life expectancy, and implement recommendations from a government-appointed expert group. While both SPD and CDU/CSU agree on most measures, they disagree on tax increases for wealthier citizens. The government aims to pass these reforms before summer vacation, but they still need parliamentary debate and approval. The reforms are intended to demonstrate the government’s ability to address national challenges and counter the growing popularity of AfD, especially ahead of regional elections in September.

In 15 regions of Russia, restrictions on the sale of fuel were introduced for 24 hours
At least 15 regions in Russia implemented fuel sales restrictions on June 23 due to a fuel shortage caused by attacks on oil refining facilities by Ukrainian drones. The restrictions include limiting fuel purchases to specific volumes per person and banning refueling into cans. These measures were introduced in major regions such as Khanty-Mansiysk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Saratov, Penza, Omsk, Voronezh, Murmansk, and Krasnoyarsk. Authorities cited the need to prevent artificial shortages and excessive demand. In Irkutsk Oblast, some gas stations imposed limits while others stopped operating entirely. Governor Igor Kobzev initially linked the fuel shortage to drone strikes but later removed this statement. In Vladimir Oblast, residents were urged to reduce car travel, and in North Ossetia, authorities ordered the creation of an emergency fuel reserve. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak described the situation as 'not simple but controlled,' attributing regional restrictions to temporary logistical issues. Fuel sales have effectively halted in Crimea after an attack on a logistics hub in the Kerch Strait, with the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service also禁止

An American gets the maximum amount of recovery time at Wimbledon.
The article discusses the scheduling of the first-round doubles match at Wimbledon involving American tennis player Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams against the Argentine-Colombian pair Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio. The match was initially scheduled for Thursday and Friday but has been postponed due to Serena's injury during her singles match. Tournament organizer Andy Murray (likely a misstatement, as Andy Murray is a British player, and the correct name might be someone like Ashley Barker or another official) stated they are giving Serena as much time as possible to recover. They ruled out postponing the match to later dates unless necessary for safety or tournament flow. The match is expected to take place on a larger court to accommodate the large crowd attracted by Serena and Venus, who are major stars. Serena returned to professional tennis after four years, but she lost her first singles match and injured her knee. She did not attend a press conference afterward due to health reasons and expressed her commitment to participating in the doubles event. Serena and Venus have won six doubles titles together, including a title in 2016.

Ukraine reports two dead after night attacks by Russia, with the death toll in Kiev rising to 30.
At least two people were killed and eight injured in Russian air strikes on the Sumy region and Kryvyj Rih in Ukraine during the night of Thursday to Friday, according to Ukrainian authorities. This follows a large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv earlier in the week which killed at least 30 people and injured around 100 others. In response to the attacks, Ukraine conducted missile strikes on Belgorod in Russia, causing a fire at an energy facility and killing one woman, according to Russian media. The overnight strike on the city of Romny in the Sumy region hit a residential building, killing two women and injuring a man, reported regional administrator Oleh Hryhorov via Telegram. Another seven people were injured in a missile strike on Kryvyj Rih, according to military city administrator Oleksandr Vilkul. In Kyiv, teams discovered three more dead bodies during the night, bringing the total number of victims to 30, according to Reuters citing Ukrainian health authorities. Kyiv's military administrator Tymur Tkačenko stated that the attack injured 99 people. Moscow claimed the extensive attack was a response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, including those carried

Putin rejects Ukraine's proposed ceasefire and threatens to continue the war

The design of a 'lost' New York skyscraper has come to life after 118 years.

Strange incident on board a Ryanair flight: passengers were disembarked due to an invasion of mosquitoes. They were defending themselves as best they could
A Ryanair flight scheduled to depart from Milan Malpensa Airport to Alicante, Spain, on Thursday evening was delayed by approximately three hours due to an infestation of mosquitoes inside the aircraft cabin. Passengers reported that shortly after boarding, the cabin was overrun by a swarm of mosquitoes entering through open doors. The situation became increasingly difficult as passengers tried to protect themselves, leading to bloodstains on the plane's interior. Due to hygiene and safety concerns, all passengers were evacuated. A young woman aboard who is allergic to mosquito bites reportedly accelerated the decision to disembark. The flight eventually departed at midnight and arrived in Alicante at 2:14 AM, nearly four hours late.

In the tropical Pacific, El Niño conditions have set in, researchers say.
The article reports that researchers from New Zealand’s Earth Sciences organization (ESNZ) have identified conditions consistent with the El Niño climate phenomenon in the tropical Pacific. They warn that impacts on New Zealand’s weather are likely to intensify over the coming months. The ESNZ joined other organizations in Australia, Japan, and the U.S. in confirming the development of El Niño, which is expected to reach strong intensity between July and September. The effects are projected to peak during the Southern Hemisphere summer, spanning late 2023 into early 2024. According to lead researcher Chris Brandolini, this El Niño event is at least comparable in strength to five of the strongest recorded El Niños in modern history. The article outlines regional rainfall expectations, noting potential below-average precipitation in some areas and above-normal levels in others. It also mentions possible temperature fluctuations and increased wind variability later in the year. Additionally, it notes two lower-probability risks: sudden stratospheric warming and the occurrence of a tropical cyclone outside the typical season, both historically linked to El Niño. Brandolini connects the

Aceste postări includ imagini care îl înfățișează pe Trump ca Iisus, Papa sau un rege, provocând reacții negative din partea comunității religioase.

Behind closed doors, the PSD and the PNL agree: See you in the autumn!. The only ones more optimistic are at the UDMR, while a new government formula begins to catch followers. Go to Bologna and ask
In the lead-up to the parliamentary summer break, leaders of Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD) and National Liberal Party (PNL) have indicated there are currently no signs of progress in forming a new government, according to sources present at discussions. With the parliamentary session ending on June 30, some MPs are avoiding scheduling vacations out of fear of being called back for a government investment session, while others who have already booked flights express resignation, saying 'we'll see each other in September.' The chances of a new government being formed before the break are nearly nonexistent, leaving two options: either organizing an extraordinary session if the president appoints a prime minister in July or August, or waiting until autumn when parliament reconvenes. In the PSD group meeting, Marian Neacșu told MPs to prepare for potential work during their vacation, expecting negotiations to resume in the fall. Similarly, PNL leader Gabriel Andronache conveyed the same message in his last internal meeting before the break. Meanwhile, USR members remain skeptical, stating it is almost impossible to bring MPs back to Bucharest during their holidays and that a新

AUR criticizes Nicușor Dan and again conveys the suspension scenario: It would require the support of at least another party
The leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, has criticized President Nicușor Dan for exceeding constitutional boundaries through his behavior towards the AUR party. Peiu stated that the proposal to suspend Dan would require support from another party to initiate any procedure, let alone complete it. According to Article 95 of the Constitution, the suspension process can be initiated by at least one-third of deputies and senators. Peiu accused Dan of having an entirely hostile attitude toward AUR, which holds approximately 20% of parliamentary votes, suggesting this hostility is not ideological but targeted specifically at AUR. He further claimed that Dan's actions have gone beyond the intentions of those who drafted the Constitution in 1991 and 2003. Additionally, Peiu criticized Dan’s decision to entrust the government formation mandate to Adrian Veștea without PNL's agreement, calling it a personal imposition incompatible with Western-style democracy.
