37 surrender, withdraw support from communist groups in Ilocos region

In the Ilocos Region of the Philippines, 37 individuals disengaged from communist-linked organizations between June 1 and 30. This included 19 members of Communist Front Organizations (CFOs) who voluntarily surrendered, 11 individuals who withdrew their support for the Communist Party of the Philippines–New People’s Army (CPP-NPA), three alleged members of the Communist-NPA Terrorist (CNT) group who surrendered, and four members of Underground Mass Organizations (UGMOs) who re-integrated into society. The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO-1) attributed these developments to sustained law enforcement operations, community engagement, and peace-building initiatives aimed at ending the local communist armed conflict. Brig. Gen. Jovencio Badua Jr., PRO-1 regional director, emphasized that each person choosing to abandon violence and return to the law represents progress toward lasting peace.

Tendenz-Einschätzung (Mitte): The article reports on the disengagement of individuals from communist-linked organizations and highlights government efforts to end the armed conflict. It presents information from official sources (PRO-1) and includes quotes from a government official, but does not exhibit overtly biased language,
