However, Trump later appeared to backtrack on this position, stating that the U.S. had not yet agreed to allowing Ukraine to produce the missiles. The initial indication of support came during a White House meeting held on Tuesday, where Zelenskyy reportedly conveyed that Trump had accepted the proposal. Yet, in a subsequent interview with the Financial Times, Trump stated that the United States had not formally committed to granting the production license. He emphasized the need for caution, saying, “We have to be very careful about letting somebody build them.” This marks a notable reversal from Trump’s earlier comments made at the NATO summit in Turkey, where he had suggested that Kyiv might receive the necessary authorization. He claimed that the U.S. is “beating the hell out of them.” Additionally, he expressed confidence in finalizing a significant civil nuclear energy agreement with Saudi Arabia, which was announced last week. Trump mentioned having spoken with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about normalizing relations, suggesting that progress could be made soon. Regarding European affairs, Trump praised UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham for taking a practical stance on North Sea oil exploration. He noted that Burnham’s approach to developing the region’s resources aligns with efforts to enrich the country. “The one thing that seems to be loud and clear is that he wants to make his country rich, and he knows that he can do that by opening up the North Sea oil,” Trump remarked after their first phone conversation last week.
