During the incident, Farris allegedly live-streamed herself writing “Clean hands Dirty $” in orange spray paint on the interior of the Atlantic Theatre Pavilion at the World War II Memorial. She also reportedly poured dish soap into the memorial’s fountain. The act sparked outrage among officials and members of the public, drawing sharp criticism from President Donald Trump, who condemned the vandalism as an insult to American heroes. In a statement posted on his platform, Truth Social, Trump called the incident an attack on the memory of World War II veterans. He vowed to pursue those responsible, saying, “We are on their trail!” and questioning the origins of the perpetrators. Federal prosecutors later indicted Farris on two felony charges, destruction of veterans' memorials and destruction of federal property. Each charge carries a potential maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. A federal grand jury approved the indictment, and Farris is scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden in Washington, DC, for a hearing on Thursday. As part of her bail conditions, Farris must remain within the northern Ohio and eastern Michigan areas and is prohibited from traveling beyond them.
