ZAE bodo pogumno nadaljevale s programom za povečanje strokovnega znanja v vesoljskem sektorju

ZAE je začel program, katerega cilj je povečati strokovnost Emirati v vesoljskem sektorju prek misije MBR Explorer, skupnega prizadevanja s kitajskimi partnerji. Pobuda vključuje emiratijske inženirje, raziskovalce in študente pri vseh vidikih razvoja in delovanja satelitov, z uporabo integriranih zmogljivosti, kot so zemeljske postaje in satelitska montaža, integracija in testiranje (AIT).

The United Arab Emirates has launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at strengthening its presence and expertise in the global space industry. This ambitious programme focuses on cultivating a new generation of Emirati scientists, engineers, and researchers who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation’s space sector. The initiative includes the SEO satellite mission, which involves close collaboration between the National Space Science and Technology Centre (NSSTC) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and partners in China. The mission is designed to provide hands-on experience for Emirati professionals across all phases of satellite development and operation. These activities include work at integrated facilities such as ground stations and satellite assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) centres. Such involvement is intended to equip participants with the skills necessary to support the continued expansion of the UAE’s space infrastructure and capabilities. According to statements released by the state news agency Wam, the project aligns with broader strategic goals set forth by the UAE government. These objectives include expanding national space initiatives, enhancing advanced space infrastructure, and reinforcing international cooperation. Salem Butti Salem Al Qubaisi, director general of the UAE Space Agency, emphasized the importance of these efforts in advancing space technology and nurturing local talent capable of driving innovation and sustainable development. Dr Nabil Mohammed Al Bastaki, director of the NSSTC at UAEU, highlighted the significance of the project in demonstrating confidence in Emirati youth and their potential to lead the country’s space endeavours. He noted that the mission represents a key milestone in the development of national space projects that contribute to both sustainability and national capacity building. In addition to the SEO satellite mission, the UAE has made notable strides in other space-related ventures. Earlier this year, the country took a major step forward in its plan to send a spacecraft to the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The MBR Explorer, named in honour of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, is slated for launch in 2028. It will embark on a journey spanning more than five billion kilometres, taking approximately eight years to complete. Dr Ahmad Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and chairman of the UAE Space Agency, praised the progress on what he called the “most complex mission” to date during a visit to the team working on the project in the United States earlier this year. In May, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, announced a Dh1 billion ($272.2 million) strategy to further solidify the UAE’s position within the global space community. This strategy is part of the National Space Strategy 2031, which seeks to double the economic returns of the rapidly growing space sector and elevate the nation’s competencies in space research, development, and manufacturing. These developments underscore the UAE’s commitment to becoming a leading player in the global space arena, driven by a combination of technological advancement, international collaboration, and the cultivation of domestic expertise. As the nation continues to invest heavily in space exploration and related industries, the impact of these initiatives is expected to be felt over the coming years.
