Ta odločitev, ki potrjuje obstoječe zakone, razveljavlja odločitve nižjih sodišč, ki so se odločile za transspolne študente, ki so trdili, da te prepovedi kršijo ameriško ustavo in zvezne zakone o preprečevanju diskriminacije.
Zakon v Idahu in Zahodni Virginiji razdeljuje športne ekipe v javnih šolah in univerzah glede na biološko spolnost in prepoveduje študentom moškega spola sodelovanje v ženskih ekipah. Ti zakoni so podobni zakonu v drugih 25 državah ZDA.
