Svetovni prvenstvo v sodbi

V članku se razpravlja o svetovnem prvenstvu v nogometu, vendar uporablja hiperbolični in satirični jezik, da kritizira sodniške odločitve med turnirjem. Opisuje čustvene reakcije navijačev in analitikov, primerja intenzivnost sodniških sporov z drugimi športnimi dogodki. Članek poudarja zaznane nedoslednosti pri odločanju, favorizem do večjih ekip in pretirano uporabo tehnologije Video Assistant Referee (VAR) proti slabšemu moštvu. Članek humorno pretirava vpliv teh vprašanj, odraža pa širše skrbi o pravičnosti in preglednosti na športnih tekmovanjih z visokimi vložki.

The World Cup of Refereeing has taken center stage, captivating global attention with its dramatic twists and emotional intensity. The tournament, currently being held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, with the United States serving as the primary host, has drawn together a diverse group of referees from around the world. Over 120 officials have gathered, including 51 main referees and 88 assistant referees, along with 30 Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials. These individuals come from countries as varied as Gabon and Japan, Slovenia and Nicaragua, Australia and Jordan, representing all faiths, colors, and viewpoints. Their presence before the vast audience of fans demonstrates their commitment to showcasing their skills. The event has sparked intense debate and discussion, both online and in traditional media. What began as a relatively calm and rational discourse among fans has turned into a fervent emotional response. In the comments sections of articles and on internet forums, otherwise composed and logical men have been overwhelmed by emotion, often matching the enthusiasm of women. Podcast analysts have poured data over the summer like summer berries, using statistics to illustrate and color the subjective opinions of fans. Websites have filled their feeds with articles, much like canned tuna packed in a factory, offering a variety of perspectives. The World Cup of Refereeing has exceeded expectations, delivering everything fans could hope for. However, the experience has not been entirely positive. While the initial matches were reasonably well-managed, with some notable errors in the early rounds, the overall atmosphere has deteriorated. The FIFA's handling of the controversial red card against Folarin Balogun, which further tarnished the reputation of the American federation, a morally bankrupt entity, has added to the growing discontent. Additionally, the ongoing discussions surrounding the chip in the ball, Igor Matanović’s hair, and the camera cable on the England vs Norway match have fueled numerous conspiracy theories. The ground for these issues has been properly prepared, and several cultures have been planted upon it. One key perception is that the criteria used by referees for decisions have been inconsistent throughout the tournament. Another is that approximately 80% of critical 50-50 situations have been ruled in favor of larger teams. Lastly, there is a belief that VAR is being used as a weapon against underdog teams, with contentious situations involving major teams scrutinized under a microscope to find an error that might benefit them. While I have not used the word “perception” for all three points, it is clear that these situations will need detailed review and analysis. Some of these, particularly regarding the 50-50 situations, can easily be expressed through numbers. Therefore, it is possible that I am mistaken. It is possible that refereeing, especially concerning major decisions, is entirely acceptable. Nevertheless, my perception remains that the tournament has been unfair. This is not just a personal view, it is a shared sentiment among many who watch. What truly saddens me is not that refereeing has been poor, but that the focus has been overwhelmingly on the refereeing itself. In media, in comment sections, in conversations with friends, even in sports journalism circles, the conversation begins with the referee. Goals, tactics, play, all come later. This is understandable, given that: a) rules define the game, and when they are not followed, we are talking about a different kind of game b) everyone is tired of injustice in the real world, and when we perceive it repeated on sporting fields, we must speak about it c) the referee does not lay eggs, but his eggs are being shaken In the end, it is a matter of perspective. What is most tragic is that I genuinely believe this.

Zakaj dejstva (90): The article reports on the World Cup of Refereeing, stating it is taking place in Canada, Mexico, and America, with the highest participation in America. It mentions 52 main referees, 88 assistants, and 30 VAR officials, though it later corrects this to 51 due to a referee being banned from entering

Zakaj objektivnost (65): The tone is highly subjective and emotionally charged, using phrases like 'one sport has gone mad' and 'heavy decisions on throwing' to convey strong sentiment. While the article provides factual elements about the event, it also includes hyperbolic and metaphorical language that leans towards enter
