He was also known to have lived in California in the early 1970s and had married once, though he had no known children. Geoff Schumacher, vice president of research at The Mob Museum in Las Vegas, noted that while the case exhibits characteristics often linked to mob hits, there is no conclusive evidence yet. The water level drop at Lake Mead has led to the discovery of multiple sets of human remains over the past few years. Other remains found include those of Thomas Erndt, who drowned in 2002, and Donald P. Smith, who disappeared in 1974. In 2023, the remains of Claude Russell Pensinger, who vanished in 1998, were also identified, though the cause of death remained undetermined. The ongoing drought affecting the Colorado River has caused Lake Mead’s water levels to decline significantly, exposing long-buried items and prompting concerns about the potential for uncovering more human remains. Officials have warned that continued water level drops could reveal additional evidence or bodies hidden beneath the lake’s surface.
