Amar Mehta, a Congress leader, sustained fatal injuries when an iron rod fell on his head at the Bannu School Ground in Dehradun. The incident took place as the event was being organized in anticipation of Rahul Gandhi’s visit. Local officials confirmed that Mehta was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the Congress party expressed deep sorrow over the loss, vowing to continue the program despite the tragedy. Rahul Gandhi, who is set to address the students during the "Chhatron Ki Goonj" initiative, has remained vocal in criticizing the alleged leakage of exam papers in the 2025 Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exams. He has accused the state government of hypocrisy, claiming that anti-cheating measures exist only on paper.
