Nuevo León has solidified five years of employment growth and economic expansion, according to recent reports. Under the leadership of Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda, the state has accumulated $137 billion in announced investment projects and created 295,524 formal jobs. During the first half of 2026, Nuevo León received $3.712 billion in Foreign Direct Investment, representing a 22.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. According to the federal Ministry of Economy, Nuevo León ranked first nationally in public investment announcements between January and September 2026, with $6.781 billion, accounting for 13% of the country's total. These investments have contributed to job creation and strengthened industrial activity. The state maintains the national lead in manufacturing employment, with 692,307 workers affiliated with the IMSS as of September 2026. This productive momentum is also reflected in exports, which reached $270.9 billion between October 2021 and June 2026, a 55.6% increase compared to the corresponding period under the previous administration. In Apodaca, the Swedish company Munters, specializing in energy-efficient climate control solutions, inaugurated its second plant in Mexico. Its expansion represented an accumulated investment of 190 million pesos over 16 months and generated 100 new jobs. Also in Apodaca, Thor Urbana announced an investment exceeding 3.4 billion pesos for TU Park-Apodaca I and TU Park-Apodaca II. Together, these projects will incorporate nearly 200,000 square meters of industrial infrastructure for the manufacturing and logistics sectors, with an estimated 4,500 direct and indirect jobs. The push for local entrepreneurship has included the participation of Mariana Rodríguez Cantú, who has supported spaces such as the Mercado Hecho en Nuevo León and promoted tools for the growth of small businesses. During her meetings with entrepreneurs, she addressed topics such as trademark registration, tax obligations, building commercial identity, social media, financing, physical and digital sales models. For Angélica Vázquez, an entrepreneur, this growth can be measured in tangible terms such as the new customers arriving at Miel Turquesa, her brand, with which she has participated three times in this event. "Hecho en Nuevo León has helped me grow my business a lot; this is the third edition in which I participate and I have brought different clients, a network of female entrepreneurs who support each other, and through the Ministry of Economy we feel supported and assisted to continue growing our business," she said. The Mercados Hecho en Nuevo León function as spaces to market products, find customers, and build collaboration networks. Perla Moreno, founder of Cuack Creaciones, increased her followers and sales by 100% since joining the program and received support to register her brand with the IMPI. The Ella Emprende program has trained more than 1,300 women, accumulated more than 900 hours of training, accompanied more than 400 projects, and generated more than 150 networks. It includes microloans up to 30,000 pesos and actions to facilitate access to e-commerce. Ciberseguras Pymes seeks to strengthen capabilities to protect businesses in the digital environment and, in October, won first place in the National Cybersecurity Award 2026 in the category of Public Policies, Governance, and Multi-Sectoral Cooperation. Five years into his government, Nuevo León's economic strategy connects different scales: large investments, companies producing and exporting from the state, and entrepreneurs strengthening their brands. Governor Samuel García did not attend the State Congress this Wednesday to present his Fifth Government Report and notified that he would deliver the document in writing on Thursday, October 15. In his place, Secretary General of Government Miguel Ángel Flores Serna attended and stated that the Executive was still within the time frame established by the state constitution. The official letter cited Article 79 of the Political Constitution of the Free and Sovereign State of Nuevo León to justify delivering the document the following day. This absence marks the fourth consecutive time García has missed appearing before the Congress to submit his report. The session was called to receive the document, but its presentation was postponed until October 15, according to the letter submitted by the state government. Article 79 of the Constitution of Nuevo León stipulates that the Congress must schedule and call a solemn session during the first fortnight of October each year, to which the head of the state executive branch must attend. García is currently in Mexico City, where he met with President Claudia Sheinbaum and representatives of the Business Council and conducted private activities. In 2025, the Secretary General of Government also attended the Congress to deliver the Fourth Report, accompanied by members of the Movement Citizen faction. Since 2023, the governor has held events to present his reports outside the legislative venue, inviting deputies to entertainment venues. During his First Report in 2022, García announced a new headquarters for the Legislative Power; however, the project has not progressed. With the delivery scheduled for this Thursday, the state government must formally send the document corresponding to the fifth year of the governor’s management.
