Meanwhile, Cambio Radical suggests its members might act independently, supporting any candidate freely. The Historical Pact, despite having 63 seats in the Senate and Chamber, lacks enough influence to push forward a specific candidate and may ultimately align with whoever gains broader support. The government led by President Abelardo De La Espriella has stated it will not support any candidate and will respect the decisions made by Congress. Interior Minister Rodrigo Lara urged political parties not to form alliances with the Historical Pact, the party associated with the Petro movement, during the selection process.
