Kragujevac prvič subvencionira nakup učbenikov za začetnike do četrtega razreda

The city council of Kragujevac has decided to allocate funds for the first time this year to subsidize the purchase of textbooks for students in grades one through four of elementary school. The exact amount of the subsidy will be determined after schools select publishers and report the number of students, with estimates suggesting around 37 million dinars will be allocated. This initiative marks a new effort by the city to support parents in purchasing required educational materials for these grades. The city’s education committee member, Dušan Aleksić, emphasized that while funding for textbook purchases is not a legal obligation, it reflects expanded rights provided to parents once certain conditions are met. He noted that the city has made significant progress in education infrastructure, including renovating restrooms in six schools, building two kindergartens, and opening mixed kindergarten groups in rural areas. Aleksić stated that improving conditions for children’s stay in schools and reducing waiting lists for kindergartens would lead to further allocations for such purposes.
