A full road closure will be implemented mid-next week near Esotech due to deepening of the subgrade under the railway track. The closure, which is expected to last several months, is part of preparatory work for the third development axis. The road will be properly marked with detours. The extensive works include road and intersection renewal, pedestrian and cyclist areas, bridge repairs over Pako, and upgrades to utility infrastructure and street lighting. Authorities urge drivers to exercise patience and strictly follow the temporary traffic signs. Municipality officials and the Road Infrastructure Directorate are seeking solutions to reduce traffic congestion in Škale, primarily caused by the transport of construction materials from the third development axis site. They are working with the local government to establish an agreement allowing heavy traffic to be rerouted directly to the landfill, bypassing Restavracija Jezero and Bele dvorane. Since these are local roads, municipal approval is required for such arrangements, and the municipality is prepared to cooperate in finding a solution to ease the burden on residents. Mayor of the City of Velenje, Peter Dermol, emphasized that he has called upon police and traffic authorities to increase their presence on-site to ensure proper traffic management, smooth operations, and minimize delays and dissatisfaction among drivers. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for a full closure of Miklavška Street due to the construction of a new roundabout near the Lesnina store in Spodnjih Hočah. Work is set to begin on Monday, October 19, 2026, and the project is expected to last until April of next year. Temporary traffic restrictions and changes to the traffic regime are anticipated. The project involves reconstructing an existing four-way intersection on the national road Hoče, Letališče Maribor at the junction leading to the Industrial Zone I11 near the Lesnina store. In addition to the new roundabout, existing road connections, pedestrian and cyclist areas, and traffic signals will be adjusted. From Monday, October 19, to December 24, 2026, the local road JP 880522 heading towards Industrial Zone I11 will be completely closed. On the national road Hoče, Letališče Maribor, partial and full closures of individual lanes will be necessary. Traffic will alternate one-way during construction hours, while outside of these times, traffic will be directed manually or via traffic lights. Traffic restrictions on the national road are expected to remain in effect until mid-April 2027, though they could be extended depending on the progress of work and weather conditions. Residents and drivers are advised to be patient, follow temporary traffic signals and instructions on site, and use designated detour routes where applicable. Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes carefully, as traffic jams can occur, particularly in traffic intersections, due to the changed traffic regime.
