In Slovenia, recent data from the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute (ZPIZ) has revealed striking disparities in pension amounts among retirees. According to figures released alongside the annual supplement payment, approximately 635,542 retirees received the summer bonus this year. The amount of the supplement varied depending on the size of their pension, with those receiving higher pensions getting smaller supplements and vice versa. The data shows that around 172,622 retirees, about 27 percent of all pension recipients, received a pension exceeding 1,160 euros. These individuals, who fall into the category of high-pension earners, were awarded the lowest summer bonus of 160 euros. On the other hand, 122,452 retirees, roughly 19 percent of all recipients, had pensions below 710 euros. This group, which includes those with the lowest incomes, received the highest summer bonus of 470 euros. The statistics further indicate that the majority of Slovenian retirees receive pensions within the range of 710 to 1,210 euros. Specifically, 132,829 retirees received between 710 and 850 euros, while 116,131 received between 850 and 1,010 euros, and 91,508 received between 1,010 and 1,210 euros. Together, these groups account for nearly 53.6 percent of all pensioners, highlighting the concentration of retirees within this mid-range income bracket. Additionally, 10,726 beneficiaries of disability allowances also received the summer bonus. The data underscores a clear pattern: while there are notable differences in pension levels, the number of retirees receiving the highest pensions is greater than those with the lowest. This suggests that although the gap exists, more retirees are positioned in the upper tiers of pension distribution. The information highlights the varying financial situations of retirees in Slovenia. Some have sufficient funds to support themselves, while others face challenges due to lower pension amounts. For those currently working, the findings serve as a reminder to assess their savings and prepare adequately for retirement. It is crucial to evaluate one’s financial situation during middle age to ensure long-term stability after leaving the workforce. The timing of pension payments also plays a role in financial planning. For July, pension payments will be issued on Friday, July 31, 2026. This date serves as a reference point for many retirees in organizing their finances and budgeting for future expenses. Overall, the data provides a comprehensive overview of how different groups of retirees fare financially. While some enjoy relatively stable incomes, others must rely on additional support or personal savings. The disparity in pension levels reflects broader economic and social conditions, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to improve financial security for all retirees.
