HAK: U trajektnim lukama i na pojedinim graničnim prijelazima moguća dulja čekanja

On July 5, 2026, traffic conditions across several regions in Croatia were marked by increased congestion and delays in certain areas. According to reports from the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), travelers should expect longer waiting times at ferry terminals and some border crossings. While most roads remained open without specific restrictions and under favorable weather conditions, traffic jams occasionally occurred in construction zones, tunnels, rest areas, toll stations, and near tourist centers. These disruptions were primarily due to varying traffic density and seasonal travel patterns.

The HAK issued a warning to drivers, urging them to exercise caution, patience, and concentration while maintaining safe distances between vehicles. This advisory came as part of broader efforts to manage traffic flow during peak travel periods. Additionally, a summer ban on heavy goods vehicles weighing over 7.5 tons was in effect from 12:00 to 23:00 on selected state roads in Istria and coastal areas, excluding motorways and the state road DC1. This restriction aimed to reduce congestion and improve safety on these routes during high-traffic hours.

Traffic congestion was particularly noticeable on the A1 Zagreb–Ploče–Karamatići motorway. Between Zagreb and Karlovac, there was an increase in traffic volume heading towards the coast. Further along this route, a traffic accident occurred between the Zadar center and Zadar east junctions, causing a reduction in speed limits to 80 kilometers per hour in the direction of Dubrovnik. The incident added to the already challenging conditions on this major highway, which connects central Croatia with the Adriatic coast.

Similarly, the A2 Zagreb–Macelj motorway experienced delays near the Trakošćan toll station in the direction of Zagreb. A queue of approximately 500 meters formed, affecting the movement of vehicles traveling northward. These issues highlighted the strain placed on regional transportation networks during periods of heightened demand, especially when combined with incidents such as accidents or maintenance work.

Maritime traffic, however, did not face significant challenges. Ferry services operated smoothly, with no reported difficulties in port operations. However, the catamaran route number 659, connecting Split, Bol, Hvar, Vis, and back to Hvar and Split, had been temporarily suspended. The service was scheduled to resume with departures from Split’s harbor at 15:30. This disruption could affect passengers relying on this particular route for travel between islands and mainland destinations.

The situation reflects the complex interplay of factors influencing transportation dynamics in Croatia. Seasonal variations, infrastructure limitations, and unforeseen events all contribute to fluctuating traffic conditions.
