Prime Minister Andrej Plenković of Croatia confirmed after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv that Croatia will continue its robust support for Ukraine, emphasizing ongoing political, economic, energy, and military assistance to the country. The meeting took place amid continued Russian aggression against Ukraine, which has lasted over four and a half years. Plenković stated that Croatia’s government remains committed to backing Ukraine’s fight for freedom and European security. The two leaders discussed further sanctions measures by the European Union aimed at increasing pressure on Russia, international efforts toward achieving peace, and providing security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire agreement. Plenković praised Zelensky for Ukraine's progress in the accession process following the opening of the first two negotiation clusters. He emphasized that Croatia believes Ukraine deserves a clear European perspective and that both countries will continue working together on this issue. Croatia’s support for Ukraine includes sharing its experience from the Homeland War, including humanitarian demining, processing war crimes, caring for war veterans, and peaceful reintegration of occupied areas. Plenković highlighted these points during his social media post announcing the meeting with Zelensky, stating that Croatia will continue helping Ukraine by sharing its expertise gained through past conflicts. During their discussions, the Croatian prime minister reiterated that Croatia will maintain continuous political, economic, energy, and military support for Ukraine.
