They argue that opening a battery compromises its original safety standards, increasing the risk of overheating or fire. The TCS recommends opting for an original replacement battery whenever possible, despite the higher price tag. Repair shops counter this stance, noting that professional, properly executed repairs can be both safe and economically viable. They stress that the key factor is not who performs the work, but rather whether it is done correctly using appropriate tools and materials. The process of repairing an e-bike battery typically involves replacing faulty cells within the battery pack. Each battery consists of multiple lithium-ion cells, and during a cell swap, damaged or degraded cells are removed and replaced with newer, more efficient ones. Some specialized workshops claim they can even increase the battery's overall capacity beyond its original specifications, though this depends on the specific design and the functionality of the battery management system (BMS).
