A Croatian influencer and mother of six children has publicly shared correspondence with her ex-husband, revealing that he has failed to regularly pay child support, accumulating a significant debt over the years. Kristina Kovačević Hitrec, known for her honest posts about parenting and daily life on her blog "Maminog blog," disclosed these details after deciding to speak out following years of private attempts to resolve the issue. Kovačević Hitrec stated she maintains a respectful relationship with her former husband, who is the father of her twins. However, she emphasized that he does not consistently meet his financial obligations. She posted excerpts from their communication alongside photographs, explaining that she had chosen silence for years to protect her children from conflict. "I have always maintained a respectful relationship with my ex-husband, the father of my twins. You all know that he doesn't pay child support regularly and that there's a considerable debt, although he occasionally makes some payments," she wrote. She added that she chose to remain quiet for years to shield her children from arguments. She explained that she often had to yield in such situations, stating, "It isn't a relationship where both parties adjust equally." The turning point came when she received a legal warning regarding unpaid bills for her daughters' speech therapist. "A legal notice arrived via email today regarding unpaid bills for the speech therapist amounting to 970 euros," she revealed. Initially, she thought it might be an error, believing the bills had been settled. Her post quickly gained attention and sparked numerous reactions. Many women shared their experiences with non-payment of child support and challenges in relationships with former partners. "I found myself in every one of your letters," "For the first time, I agree with you because I've gone through all this too," "There are still many of us who drink coffee with our ex-husbands. It's time to show strength and pride," and "Unfortunately, I know how you feel... my ex-husband also doesn't pay child support and doesn't pick up the kids," were among the supportive comments. However, not everyone supported her decision to go public. Some followers believed she had tolerated the situation for too long and should have sought legal protection earlier. "I'm sorry, but this isn't a healthy relationship. Children learn they should always give in. Child support is their right, and the father is obligated to pay," one follower wrote. Another advised her to focus on herself rather than seeking peace, saying, "You're choosing stress instead of peace. There's no good relationship without respect."
