During questioning, Arshad admitted his role in the attack and revealed that the knife used belonged to his associate. Separately, a different incident involving a fatal dispute over a ₹1,000 fare led to the death of a passenger in a van in Delhi. On August 17, Rajinder Kumar alias Annu, 59, allegedly picked up a passenger from IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram, Haryana, and transported him within West Delhi. According to police, the passenger refused to pay the fare, sparking a confrontation. Rajinder allegedly assaulted the man using bricks and an earthen-pot-like object, resulting in fatal injuries. After the killing, Rajinder contacted his wife, Kamini Makhija, 50, and son, Laksh Makhija, 28, to assist in hiding the body. The trio was arrested on Friday night after authorities received a PCR call about a body found in the Naraina Vihar area. The victim, whose identity remained unknown, was discovered lying naked and bloodstained on a pavement near a government school. He had suffered a severe injury to the right side of his head and multiple wounds across his body. A distinctive heart-shaped tattoo with an arrow on his left forearm bore the names “Anand” and “Renu,” aiding in the initial identification process. Investigating officers noted signs of a violent struggle, including scattered blood at the scene. They examined approximately 500 CCTV recordings and tracked a suspicious Maruti Eeco in the vicinity. The vehicle was eventually identified and linked to Rajinder, whose wife turned it over to police. The deceased’s clothing and footwear were recovered based on information from his son. The van is being treated as crucial evidence to determine the sequence of events leading to the killing and the disposal of the body. Despite these efforts, the victim’s identity remains unclear, and the investigation continues. In another development, Delhi Police have arrested six individuals, including a juvenile, in connection with the murder of a taxi driver. The victim’s car was recovered from Rajasthan, according to officials.
