Motorists nearby joined in by honking their horns, while the crowd responded with cheers of “¡España, España!” The streets surrounding the glorieta were filled with loud music, hugs, and families proudly displaying the Spanish flag. Among the attendees was Elías, a Spaniard who has lived in Mexico for several years, carrying a large Spanish flag on his shoulders as he celebrated alongside fellow countrymen. Elías expressed how the warmth of the crowd made him feel like he was back home, calling the scene “maravilloso” and emphasizing the deep bond between Spain and Mexico. He noted that he had not anticipated such a festive reception in the capital, highlighting the affectionate relationship between the two countries. “Spain and Mexico are brothers; we won, and so did everyone,” he said, raising his flag high. A family of four, Ana Narro, Carolina Álvarez, Luis Álvarez, and Lucía Álvarez, also attended the gathering, dressed in Spain’s team jerseys and holding a flag they had brought from a previous family trip. They explained that although they were born in Mexico, they continue to honor the traditions of their Galician ancestors. For them, supporting Spain during its victories is a way to pay tribute to their heritage. “It’s our way of honoring our grandparents,” said Ana Narro, adding that the emotional impact of sharing the celebration with others was even greater than expected. Another attendee, Alex Luna, a man from Catalonia, traveled to Mexico to visit his girlfriend. He described the glorieta as a true celebration, comparing the atmosphere to that of Spanish cities after major matches. “It’s incredible to see so many people here; it feels like celebrating at home,” he remarked.
