Barranquilla napreduje k prvemu vetrnemu parku zunaj obale: projekt želi ustvariti čisto energijo in pritegniti naložbe

Članek poroča o napredku projekta "Vientos de Barranquilla", katerega namen je razviti prvi kolumbijski morski vetrni park ob obali Barranquille. Pobuda vključuje sodelovanje med mestnim okrožjem in danskim podjetjem Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).

Barranquilla has taken a significant step toward becoming the site of Colombia’s first offshore wind farm, with the Distrito and the Danish company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) signing a joint declaration to move forward with the project. The initiative, known as “Vientos de Barranquilla,” aims to generate clean energy while attracting investment and promoting sustainable development along the Caribbean coast. The agreement was signed during a meeting attended by Barranquilla Mayor Alejandro Char, Ambassador of Denmark to Colombia Jens Godtfredsen, representatives from the Danish Embassy, and executives from CIP. The document, supported by the Government of Denmark, confirms progress made in the initial phase of the project and outlines the path for subsequent technical, environmental, and regulatory steps necessary to launch the initiative off the city's coastline. Mayor Char emphasized that the goal is to position Barranquilla as the starting point for marine wind energy in Colombia. He stated, “The winds of Barranquilla will soon become clean energy. We are preparing to launch the country’s first offshore wind project, right off our city.” The mayor highlighted that the initiative would allow the region to harness its abundant natural resource, the consistent and powerful winds, and contribute to a more diversified energy matrix. The project involves the installation of offshore wind turbines near Barranquilla’s shores to produce electricity through wind power. Currently, the initiative is in the early stages, including technical studies, wind resource measurements, and environmental assessments. These evaluations will determine the feasibility of the park and establish conditions for its development. The proposal is part of the first round of offshore wind projects promoted by the national government and benefits from an already awarded maritime area for implementation. Beyond generating electricity, the project seeks to establish a new industrial chain around marine wind energy. Expected impacts include the arrival of new investments, the creation of specialized jobs, the strengthening of local suppliers, and the transfer of knowledge into a sector still in its infancy in Colombia. For Denmark, one of the world leaders in this type of technology, the initiative represents an opportunity to expand energy cooperation with Colombia. The Danish Energy Agency has expressed support for the project, underscoring its potential to contribute to both countries' sustainability goals. The collaboration between Barranquilla and CIP reflects a growing interest in renewable energy solutions tailored to the unique geographical and climatic conditions of the Colombian Caribbean. With its strategic location and favorable wind patterns, the region offers ideal conditions for such developments. As the project moves forward, it is expected to serve as a model for future renewable energy initiatives in the country.
