The president emphasized that the American oil and gas sector was generating hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue. He dismissed anticipated negative media coverage, stating that he did not care about accusations of profiting while citizens suffered at the pump. He asserted that the country was growing stronger and that pump prices would eventually decrease. Economist Isabella Weber, author of the book Anti-Fascist Economics: In Defense of Affordability, Dignity, and Democracy, offered a contrasting analysis. As the founding director of Essential Economics and an associate professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Weber described the Iran conflict as an engineered shock initiated by the United States government. She noted that following this event, retail gasoline prices rose by forty-five percent. Simultaneously, profits within the petroleum and coal industries increased by four hundred and fifteen percent.
