Mladi, studentske organizacije u Kerali pružaju podršku operaciji Toofan

Mladi i studentske organizacije u Kerali obećale su svoju podršku državnoj vladi u borbi protiv droge pod nazivom Operacija Toofan. Ministar unutarnjih poslova Ramesh Chennithala organizirao je sastanak s predstavnicima više od 25 takvih skupina, naglašavajući važnost suradnje preko političkih linija za jačanje inicijative.

Youth and student organisations in Kerala have pledged their support to the state government's anti-drug enforcement operation, Operation Toofan. The commitment was made during a meeting chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, which brought together 47 representatives from approximately 25 different groups. The gathering took place on Wednesday, marking a key step in the ongoing effort to combat drug-related crimes in the region. During the meeting, Chennithala highlighted the importance of collaboration with youth and student bodies, stating that such partnerships would help strengthen the effectiveness of Operation Toofan. He noted that these organisations, regardless of their political affiliations, could play a crucial role in addressing the issue of drug abuse among young people. In addition, he announced that further discussions would be held to involve more stakeholders and integrate feedback into the strategy. Participants from various organisations presented a range of proposals aimed at improving the campaign. Among the key suggestions were the inclusion of university and college unions in the initiative, enhanced measures to prevent online drug trafficking, protection of the identities of informants, increased involvement of parents and educators in awareness campaigns, and intensified monitoring of social media platforms commonly used for drug-related activities. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister O J. Janeesh suggested leveraging the influence of sports figures and film personalities to raise public awareness and foster greater community engagement. His proposal reflects an understanding that popular culture can serve as an effective tool in educating the public about the risks associated with drug use. In response to the growing concern over substance abuse among students, the government has also announced plans to launch a Talk Room initiative. This program will focus on providing mental health support to students, addressing issues related to substance abuse, and promoting awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics. The initiative aims to create a safe space for students to discuss their challenges and receive guidance. The meeting underscored the collaborative spirit between the government and youth-led organisations, highlighting a shared goal of reducing drug-related incidents in Kerala. With the involvement of diverse groups, including educational institutions and cultural influencers, the campaign appears poised to reach a broader audience and make a meaningful impact. As preparations continue for the expanded implementation of Operation Toofan, officials are working to finalise the strategies outlined during the meeting. The upcoming consultations will focus on incorporating the recommendations received and ensuring that all aspects of the campaign are well-coordinated and effectively executed. The success of this initiative will depend on the sustained cooperation between the government and the communities it seeks to protect.
