Aoibheann was playing for the Taghmon Camross GAA club in the Girls Minor Division 6 Shield final. She was also known for her involvement in soccer, having played for All Blacks AFC and Wexford FC. Just weeks prior, she contributed to Wexford FC's victory in the FAI Women’s U19 Inter-League title. Her teammates and opponents were gathered in the dressing rooms while waiting for updates on her condition. They were eventually informed that she had passed away in hospital. The Taghmon Camross GAA club released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy. It referred to Aoibheann as a "cherished member" of their minor team and thanked those who assisted during the emergency. The club acknowledged the support from spectators, first responders, the ambulance service, Gardaí, and the fire crew. It urged the public to respect the family’s privacy during their grieving period. Aoibheann's family and close friends have also shared their grief publicly.
