Objavite trake: Watchdog postiže veliku pravnu pobjedu protiv openAutopen Biden

Konzervativna nadzorna grupa, Oversight Project, osvojila je pravnu bitku protiv bivšeg predsjednika Joea Bidena, potencijalno omogućavajući objavljivanje audio snimaka njegovih razgovora s njegovim spisateljem memoara, Markom Zwonitzerom.

A federal appeals court has denied former President Joe Biden's emergency motion to block the release of audio recordings of his conversations with his memoir ghostwriter, potentially allowing the tapes to be made public as early as August 3. The decision came late Monday night following a legal battle involving the Oversight Project, a conservative watchdog group linked to the Heritage Foundation. The recordings, obtained by Special Counsel Robert Hur during his investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents, were central to Hur’s findings and his decision not to pursue criminal charges against the former leader. The Oversight Project filed a lawsuit seeking the release of the tapes, arguing that the American public has a right to transparency regarding the inner workings of the Biden administration. The group previously succeeded in securing the release of audio from Biden’s interview with Hur, which exposed concerns over his cognitive abilities. That revelation contributed to the widespread speculation about the so-called “autopen presidency,” a term used to describe Biden’s alleged reliance on a signature machine for official actions due to perceived mental decline. Mark Zwonitzer, the ghostwriter for Biden’s memoir Promise Me, Dad, recorded the conversations as part of his work on the book. These recordings were obtained by Hur as part of his broader inquiry into potential misconduct related to classified materials. The Oversight Project claims the tapes offer critical insight into the leadership style and decision-making processes during Biden’s time in the White House. The group asserts that the recordings could provide evidence of systemic issues within the administration, including the controversial use of the autopen. In a statement, Jeff Clark, the vice president of litigation for the Oversight Project, criticized Biden’s efforts to keep the tapes confidential. He argued that the former president’s attempts to shield the recordings reflect a broader pattern of secrecy and a lack of accountability. “What’s striking is how desperately Biden fought to keep these conversations sealed, knowing full well they’d reveal more about his capacity than the defenders of the Autopen Presidency wanted to admit,” Clark said. He also dismissed claims that the tapes were merely personal or familial records, emphasizing that Biden had profited significantly from the memoir project. Mike Howell, president of the Oversight Project, framed the issue as part of a larger pattern of institutional complicity. He suggested that key figures within the Democratic Party, mainstream media, and political elites were aware of Biden’s limitations yet continued to support his candidacy and presidency. “The evidence is stacking up that the sin was corporate in that the Democrat establishment, media, and power brokers knew that Biden wasn’t capable of being president but they pushed him anyways in favor of an unconstitutional governing strategy of rule by commission via a mechanical autopen device,” Howell stated. Congressional Republicans and members of the Trump administration have already initiated investigations into Biden’s use of the autopen, with some lawmakers suggesting that such practices violate constitutional norms. The Oversight Project’s latest legal victory adds another layer to these ongoing inquiries, potentially providing new material that could influence future legislative or judicial actions. Unless Biden secures additional court intervention before August 3, the recordings are set to be released, marking a pivotal moment in the scrutiny of executive authority and presidential accountability. The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for how the public perceives the legitimacy and functioning of the presidency.
