Elon Musk unveiled a new Tesla Roadster equipped with propulsion systems inspired by SpaceX rockets during a presentation in Texas. The vehicle demonstrated aerial capabilities, including lifting off from a ramp, performing a mid-air flip, and landing using retro-thrust technology. The event took place at a SpaceX test facility and was broadcast online. The demonstration began with the Roadster accelerating up a vertical wall before continuing along a curved ramp, positioning itself nearly upside down approximately 20 meters above the ground. It then detached from the surface, rotated in the air, and landed safely using thrust mechanisms. Moments later, the car flew over a row of parked Tesla vehicles, executing a dramatic spin mid-flight before landing on the opposite side. According to reports, the Roadster uses powerful fans beneath its body to create suction, generating enough force to keep the vehicle stable even when inverted. Musk noted that the system could potentially allow the car to remain stationary on an upside-down surface. He emphasized that while success was not guaranteed, the demonstration aimed to showcase the feasibility of such technology. During the event, the Roadster performed a maneuver dubbed "kickflip," which resembled an acrobatic move more typical of aircraft than conventional automobiles. Musk highlighted that the propulsion system enables maneuvers previously reserved for science fiction, referencing Peter Thiel’s famous quip about promised flying cars versus social media updates. The presentation included a lineup of Tesla models, such as the Cybertruck, Model 3, Model Y, electric semi-truck Semi, and autonomous Cybercab. The Roadster accelerated toward these vehicles, lifted off the ground, and flew over them before landing on the other side.
