Professor Tine Golež, a physics teacher known for his literary pursuits, continues to inspire through his writing. In an interview with Radio Ognjišče, Golež discussed how he draws inspiration from everyday occurrences, which often evolve into complex narratives. His literary style aims for multi-layered storytelling, akin to Mozart's music, allowing readers to engage with both simple and profound meanings within the text. Golež emphasizes the importance of accessible language to encourage reflection and deeper understanding among readers. Golež has authored several books, including "More Than a Century and a Half," which traces the lineage of the Mub family from 1753 to 1921. This narrative continues in his second book, "Who Dries Our Tears," written by his uncle, Metod M. Milač, detailing the lives of their ancestors. Golež chose to distribute his works freely, believing that sharing them could potentially change someone’s life. He compared the financial investment required for publishing two editions of his books to the cost of an African safari, opting instead for literature over travel. His most extensive work focuses on historical and familial themes, particularly in his historical novel that spans 170 years, chronicling the journey of an ancestor who transitioned from a common Slovenian to a conscious member of the Slovenian nation. The story highlights the struggle to preserve the Slovenian language and showcases the challenges faced during this transformation. Published in the Večernica collection, the novel marks a significant connection to Golež’s great-grandfather, who was once a subscriber to Mohorjev's books. Golež has also developed a screenplay based on this epic tale, aiming to bring this national historical experience to the screen. Despite the high production costs, he believes the project would be valuable, especially around the 40th anniversary of Slovenia's independence. Golež reflects on the significance of the Slovenian language, emphasizing its role in national identity. He warns that if Slovenians stop speaking their native tongue, much of their cultural heritage might be lost. This perspective underscores his commitment to preserving linguistic traditions through his writings. In discussing his past experiences, Golež recalled a television interview from 1988 with Ivan Mačkov, where the journalist questioned him about his time in Russia in 1938 and the harsh living conditions of the working class there. Mačkov's response revealed the true purpose behind his stay in Russia, which was not to learn about the hardships of the proletariat but rather to highlight the complexities of human experience and societal structures. This insight further enriches Golež's understanding of historical contexts and influences his approach to storytelling.
