The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, delivered a heartfelt speech during the festive celebration of "Thank You USA" on June 4, commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence. Organized by the government of Kosovo, the event highlighted the deep bond between the two nations. In her remarks, Prattipati expressed gratitude to the citizens of Kosovo for their unwavering support and friendship towards the United States, stating that she does not know of any other country in the world that is more pro-American than Kosovo.

During the ceremony, Prattipati reflected on the emotional impact of the warm reception she has received since arriving in Kosovo two years prior. She described the occasion as a unique honor, emphasizing that being able to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence in Kosovo was one of the most fortunate experiences of her career within the U.S. Foreign Service. She noted that throughout her diplomatic tenure in various parts of the world, she had never encountered a population with such strong affection and loyalty toward the United States as the people of Kosovo.

Prattipati went further to assert that the people of Kosovo have demonstrated an unparalleled level of solidarity with the United States. She emphasized that this connection is not just symbolic but deeply rooted in mutual respect and shared values. The ambassador stated that the warmth and appreciation shown by the citizens of Kosovo have been extraordinary, and that the support they have extended to the United States over the years has left a profound impression on her personally.

In addition to expressing admiration for the local initiatives organized to mark the anniversary, Prattipati praised the sincerity of the friendship between the two countries. She acknowledged that while there have been moments of disagreement, these have not undermined the strategic partnership between the United States and Kosovo. Instead, she pointed to the many achievements accomplished together, highlighting the trust and cooperation that have defined their relationship.

Prattipati also spoke about the historical significance of Kosovo’s journey toward statehood, noting that the United States recognized its sovereignty in 1999 and again in 2008. She reiterated that Kosovo's emergence as an independent, sovereign, and multiethnic nation was always seen as a natural progression, and that the people of Kosovo have consistently proven themselves as reliable partners and allies of the United States.

Despite acknowledging past challenges, Prattipati remained optimistic about the future of bilateral relations. She expressed confidence that the ties between the two nations would continue to strengthen, both politically and culturally. She emphasized that the bonds forged over the past 18 years were not merely formal agreements but genuine connections built on shared aspirations and mutual respect.

Mayor of Pristina, Perparim Rama, echoed Prattipati’s sentiments, stating that the friendship between Kosovo and the United States is not confined to a single day but represents a lasting value that is honored every day. He underscored the importance of maintaining and nurturing this relationship for generations to come.
